Storage, River Flow and Rainfall Update

Rainfall recorded at South Gippsland Water’s storages in the month of March was Lance Creek 58mm, Ruby Creek 56mm, Deep Creek 119mm and Battery Creek 122mm.

During the week of 3 April to 9 April, rainfall was Lance Creek 13mm, Ruby Creek and Deep Creek 0mm and Battery Creek 1mm.

South Gippsland Water’s Managing Director, Philippe du Plessis said that while rainfall has dropped over the last week, reservoirs and creeks are still at good levels, and with the rainfall in recent days we expect storages to significantly increase.

“Lance Creek Reservoir, which services Korumburra, Poowong, Loch, Nyora, Wonthaggi, Inverloch and Cape Paterson, is at 76 per cent and Ruby Creek, which services Leongatha is at 62 per cent. Deep Creek which services Foster is at 98 per cent and Battery Creek, which services Fish Creek is at 94 per cent,” he said.

“Despite our water storages being in a good position, we need to be mindful that Victorian Permanent Water Saving rules apply. We all need to remember to water our gardens between 6pm and 10am, sweep and not hose down pathways and driveways, and install trigger nozzles on all outside hoses.”
