Storage and Rainfall Update
Monday, July 23rd, 2018
Rainfall recorded at South Gippsland Water’s storages from 14th – 20th July 2018 was Lance Creek 16mm, Ruby Creek 12mm, Coalition Creek 20mm, Deep Creek 20mm, Little Bass 10mm and Battery Creek 25mm.
South Gippsland Water’s Managing Director, Philippe du Plessis said “With catchments well saturated, good rainfall and run-off over recent weeks has seen storage levels in all but one of our supply systems remain steady between 78-100% capacity.”
The Ruby Creek system, which supplies Leongatha and surrounds, is the only system below 78% capacity, currently sitting at 64%.
“During May and June, storage levels for Ruby Creek were between 53-56%, so even though it has recovered some-what with July’s rainfall, it has not been as responsive as with our other systems,” confirmed Mr du Plessis. “Levels are remaining steady and demand is being met, but we are closely monitoring the situation.”
All customers are reminded to ensure that they are following either the Permanent Water Saving Rules (which apply to all Victorians).
