Storage and Rainfall Update
Monday, April 16th, 2018
A small amount of rainfall was recorded at some of South Gippsland Water’s storages between 7 – 13th April 2018. Lance Creek 3mm, Ruby Creek 2mm, Deep Creek 2mm and Battery Creek 1mm. These figures do not account for rainfall received by catchments over the weekend of 14 -15 April.
Due to dry weather conditions during summer and the first weeks of autumn, storage levels have been declining, particularly in the northern part of the region, Ruby Creek (Leongatha), Coalition Creek (Korumburra) and Little Bass (Poowong, Loch and Nyora). Korumburra customers are reminded that Stage 2 Water Restrictions remain in place and customers in all other townships are encouraged to take note of the Permanent Water Saving Rules that operate separate to any staged water restrictions and are in place across Victoria all year round.

Recent rainfall across the region is welcome and it will do much to replenish gardens, farmland and surrounding areas. A great deal of follow-up rain will be needed throughout autumn and into winter before run-off from catchments begins to refill South Gippsland’s reservoirs.
