We’re committed to achieving net zero by 2035.

Greenhouse gas

We continue to make significant progress in reducing our greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption as we approach our commitment to be powered off 100 per cent renewable energy by 2025 and achieve net zero by 2035.

What we have done to date:

  • Developed and implemented of our Net Zero Plan.
  • Secured green energy opportunities to meet our 100 per cent renewable energy commitments in 2025.
  • Procured Large Scale Generation Certificates (LGCs) from Zero Emissions Water (ZEW).
  • Continued our investment in behind-the-meter electricity generation through solar.
  • Implemented our Fleet Transition Plan that outlines a way to move our internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle fleet to electric and hybrid.
  • Explored options for Australian Carbon Credit Unit (ACCU) generation or procurement to offset our emissions.
  • Optimised our systems and processes to reduce overall energy consumption.

Energy

We currently have solar arrays at nine of our sites and depots, with a combined capacity of 1,171 KW.  Two of the sites are registered power stations under the Clean Energy Regulator and can produce LGCs to reduce our scope 2 emissions.

Our partnership with Zero Emissions Water (ZEW), a collective of 12 Victorian water corporations working together to reduce emissions, continues to provide value for both us and our customers. Through ZEW, we acquire LGCs that will help us meet our 100 per cent renewable energy commitment in 2025 and eliminate our scope 2 emissions.
