South Gippsland Water is one of several government agencies and community groups that work together to protect our catchments and waterways and to manage water resources in Gippsland.

Who does what in water outlines the different agencies and their responsibilities.

South Gippsland Water manages numerous environmentally sensitive areas including habitat for threatened species including the Giant Gippsland Earthworm, Warragul Burrowing Crayfish, Platypus and Bog Gum (see below).

We run a comprehensive environmental weed management program targeting invasive species across our 13 reservoirs, 18 service storages and 11 sewage treatment plants. The program prioritises preserving habitat and biodiversity on these sites in accordance with the Catchment and Land Protection Act (CALP 1994)

We continue to investigate opportunities to improve habitat and biodiversity values through partnerships, restorative works and process improvements on our sites.
