Storage, River Flow and Rainfall Update
Sunday, March 28th, 2021
Rainfall recorded at South Gippsland Water’s storages during the week of 20 March to 26 March was Lance Creek 14mm, Ruby Creek 29mm, Deep Creek 52mm and Battery Creek 65mm.
South Gippsland Water’s Managing Director, Philippe du Plessis said that we saw significant rainfall in some regions last week, keeping our reservoirs and creeks at good levels.
“Lance Creek Reservoir, which services Korumburra, Poowong, Loch, Nyora, Wonthaggi, Inverloch and Cape Paterson, is at 79 per cent and Ruby Creek, which services Leongatha is at 65 per cent. Deep Creek which services Foster is at 97 per cent and Battery Creek, which services Fish Creek is at 92 per cent,” he said.
“This week’s rain levels have improved our water storage levels, however, we need to continue to be mindful that Victorian Permanent Water Saving rules apply. With our region seeing an influx of visitors over the Easter long weekend, we need to remember to water gardens between 6pm and 10am, sweep and not hose down pathways and driveways, and install trigger nozzles on all outside hoses.”
