Storage, River Flow and Rainfall Update

Rainfall recorded at South Gippsland Water’s storages during the week of 30 January to 5 February was Lance Creek 16mm, Ruby Creek 16mm, Deep Creek 11mm and Battery Creek 19mm.

For January, monthly rainfalls have been Lance Creek 75mm, Ruby Creek 89mm, Deep Creek 105mm and Battery Creek 108mm.

South Gippsland Water’s Managing Director, Philippe du Plessis said Lance Creek Reservoir, which services Korumburra, Poowong, Loch, Nyora, Wonthaggi, Inverloch and Cape Paterson, is at 83 per cent and Ruby Creek, which services Leongatha is at 76 per cent. Deep Creek which services Foster and Battery Creek which services Foster are both at 95 per cent.

“While our water storages are in a good position, there is still an influx of visitors and holiday homeowners this time of year, meaning that there is an increased demand for water,” he said.

“Permanent water saving rules still apply, so we all need to remember to water our gardens between 6pm and 10am, sweep and not hose down pathways and driveways, and install trigger nozzles on all outside hoses.”
