Storage, River Flow and Rainfall Update
Monday, December 7th, 2020
Rainfall recorded at South Gippsland Water’s storages during the week of 28 November to 4 December was Lance Creek 14mm, Ruby Creek 4mm, Deep Creek 8mm and Battery Creek 16mm.
For the month of November, Lance Creek recorded rainfall of 43mm, Ruby Creek 39mm, Deep Creek 30mm and Battery Creek 36mm.
South Gippsland Water’s Managing Director, Philippe du Plessis said while we had slightly less than average rain in November, our reservoirs were still looking healthy heading into summer.
“Lance Creek Reservoir, which services Korumburra, Poowong, Loch, Nyora, Wonthaggi, Inverloch and Cape Paterson, is at 97 per cent and Ruby Creek, which services Leongatha is at 91 per cent. Our other two reserves remain at 100 per cent capacity,” he said.
“The recent rain we’ve had so far this month has been positive also. But while we’re in a good place waterwise at the moment – it’s always good for us to remember Permanent Water Savings Rules apply across Victoria.”
Under these rules, all Victorians need to water their garden between 6pm and 10am, sweep and not hose down pathways and driveways, and install trigger nozzles on all outside hoses.
