Storage, River Flow and Rainfall Update

Monday, November 23rd, 2020

Rainfall recorded at South Gippsland Water’s storages during the week of 14 November to 20 November was Lance Creek 1mm, Ruby Creek 4mm, Deep Creek 0mm and Battery Creek 4mm.

South Gippsland Water’s Managing Director, Philippe du Plessis said hot weather and little rain this week meant two storages were slightly down from the last update.

“Lance Creek, which services Korumburra, Poowong, Loch, Nyora, Wonthaggi, Inverloch and Cape Paterson, is at 98 per cent and Ruby Creek, which services Leongatha is at 95 per cent. Our other two reserves remain at 100 per cent capacity,” he said.

“While we’re still expecting above average rainfall in December through to February, this slight drop is a timely reminder for all of us as we head into summer, to think about conserving water.

“In Victoria, Permanent Water Savings Rules apply across the state. That means we’re asking everyone to water the garden between 6pm and 10am, to sweep and not hose down your pathways and driveways and install trigger nozzles on all outside hoses.”
