Storage and Rainfall Update
Monday, June 18th, 2018
Rainfall recorded at South Gippsland Water’s storages from 9th – 15th June 2018 was Lance Creek 27mm, Ruby Creek 18mm, Coalition Creek 20mm, Deep Creek 19mm, Little Bass 10mm and Battery Creek 26mm.
South Gippsland Water’s Managing Director, Philippe du Plessis said “With catchments well saturated, good rainfall and run-off over the past week has seen storage levels in each of our supply systems remain steady.”
“We are closely monitoring the Coalition Creek (Korumburra) and Little Bass (Poowong, Loch and Nyora) storages which, encouragingly, have met demand over the week and shown an increase in volume of 3% and 5% respectively.
“Good rainfall over the weekend will have added to this improvement, but significantly more winter rain is needed for these systems to recover enough to be lifted from our critical watch.”
“Residents of these townships can be encouraged by the fact that, when the Lance Creek Water Connection pipeline is commissioned in 2019, they will have a secure and reliable supply of water for the next 50 years,” confirmed Mr du Plessis. “This will provide a dependable environment for community development, economic growth and future investment.”
All customers are reminded to ensure that they are following either the Permanent Water Saving Rules (which apply to all Victorians) or Stage 3 Water Restriction rules for residents of Korumburra.
